Fashion on Fifth is the New School Free Press’ fashion column, highlighting unique looks on campus.

Gabrielle Tiongco

Gabrielle Tiongco is a first-year illustration student at Parsons. She walked to class in an oversized, black graphic tee draped over her black floral skirt. She paired her look with Doc Martens, accessorizes with stacked chains she bought online and green sunglasses. “I thrift a lot and I just buy whatever looks cool,” Tiongco said. Her snake tattoos complete her outfit. “I like snakes because snakes are my brand.”

Marina Pereira

Marina Pereira, a third-year fashion design student at Parsons, stood in front of the University Center. She wore a sheer cheetah print cropped top, low rise ripped jeans and black platform boots. Pereira added a neon green beanie and stacked silver chains. When asked about today’s outfit inspiration, she simply said, “Lazy day.”

Kimisha Moxley, Fatima Yahyah, and Shane Smith

Kimisha Moxley, or Kim, is a first-year studying Strategic Design and Management student at Parsons. She wore a graphic tee with ripped jeans splattered in white paint. Moxley completed her look with white sneakers. 

Shane Smith is a first-year Journalism and Design student at Lang. He wore a white graphic tee and black straight pants, paired with his black and white Nikes. “Baggy clothes are back,” both Moxley and Smith said.

Fatima Yahyah @fatimaummi is a first-year architecture student. Her comic print button-up blouse was from Zara. Her faded, black ripped jeans hung over her black Converse. “I’m really into streetwear. I love low rise jeans, baggy pants, and baggy shirts. It’s very casual but comfortable clothing.”

Sara Konekeo

Sara Konekeo, an administrator at Parsons, exited the Lang building wearing a classic black dress with an oversized jean jacket. Konekeo, who is the senior associate director of Enrollment and Transition Services, accessorized with white sunglasses and completed her look with pink socks and shiny red boots. Her tote bag was a reusable grocery bag from Whole Foods. “My fashion inspiration originates from South East Asia since I’m from Laos,” Konekeo said. “I like lots of vibrant colors and prints.”

Lauren Valenzuela

Lauren Valenzuela is a second-year Journalism + Design student at Lang. She wore a white graphic tee that she thrifted from Round Two Vintage in the Lower East Side. Valenzuela tucked in dad jeans, purchased from L Train Vintage and completed her outfit with white Nikes. She also accessorized with gold necklaces, rings, and earrings. When asked to describe her style, Valenzuela said, “My fashion is sporty, but cleaned up.”
