Glossing, Stuffing and Tucking at Barracuda

Published

Barracuda, a popular Chelsea hangout for gays, queens, straights and in-betweens, has begun their search for the next big Drag Star. Dragfest 2013, which started on Jan 21, takes place every Monday night at 11ish (or whenever the queens have finished glossing, tucking and stuffing) and should not be mistaken for simply a drag show or contest. Last Monday’s performance, starring queen Charmin Ultra, entailed theatrics, modern dance numbers, elaborate costumes and beautiful female back-up dancers. All of which coalesced to elevate what would’ve been classified as simply a show to an all out pageant. Puppets, props and even some tasteful nudity added dimension to the already engaging and energetic presentation. Worry not if you missed the show, because the search will go on: Madison Maddox will hit the stage next week on March 4, followed by Ginger Snap on March 11.
