How I Met Your Mother Trivia

Monday, October 3rd @ 8:00pm to 9:30pm.

How I Met Your Mother Trivia is going to be legen—wait for it—dary! Suit up and make your way uptown to The Coliseum Bar & Restaurant for a night of trivia. The event will feature five unique and challenging rounds of questions that will test you know your HIMYM knowledge. To play is free, but the restaurant asks that all participants have something to eat and drink, a $15 minimum for each person. Reservations can be made here.

Diane Arbus: In The Beginning

July 12 to November 27.

Diane Arbus, one of the world’s most well known women photographers has a solo exhibition on show at The Met Bauer. The show focuses on the beginning of her long career, mainly the seven key years that were a crucial time in the articles life, as she developed her well known style and skills. Arbus made most of her photographs in New York City, where she was born and died. She worked in locations such as Times Square, the Lower East Side, Coney Island, and countless others. Admission for New School students is free but donations are suggested.

New School Annual Blood Drive

Wednesday, October 5 at 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Give back and help others! The registration and donation process will take about an hour. If you want to be a donor you must be between the ages of 17 and 75 years old and weigh at least 110 lbs. You must also be in good health and not have donated blood within the last 56 days. There will be snacks and juice available for donators after they are finished. If you plan on donating please bring a form of photo identification. Walk-in donations are always welcome, but donors are preferred to make an appointment in advance via the web scheduler.

New York Comic Con

Thursday, October 6th- Sunday, October 9th

Are you into Batman? Superman? The Avengers? And everything else under the sun. If so, you should put on your favorite cosplay outfit and head over to the Javits Center for a day of fun. The event includes a Show Floor that hosts the latest and greatest anime, graphic novels, comics, video games, movies, and toys. There will be panel discussions and autograph sessions and screening rooms for movies and television shows. New York Comic Con is the second largest pop culture convention in America! Unfortunately, all days sold out besides Oct. 6th but remaining tickets can be found here.

Coney Art Walls

Everyday @ 12:00pm -10:00pm

The Coney Island Art Walls is an outdoor museum of street art in collaboration with several of the leading painters and sculptors of New York, as well as leading artists involved in current street culture. The exhibit includes 20 new pieces this year from artists such as John Ahearn, D*Face, Eric Haze, and Stephen Powers. It’s located in the heart of the Coney Island Amusement District, next to the original Nathan’s restaurant where you can grab a signature hot dog and walking distance from Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park.

Jonah Hill talks with David Remnick as part of The New Yorker Festival

Saturday, October 8th at 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

Jonah Hill, whose most recent film ‘War Dogs’ was released in August, has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor. Hill will make his directorial debut with his forthcoming film “Mid 90s,” which he also wrote. David Remnick was named the editor of The New Yorker in 1998, he has also worked for the Washington Post and is the author of several books. The two will share a 90-minute discussion as part of The New Yorker Festival. Tickets and more information on the event can be found here.
