Numerous critically acclaimed films debut at the annual Tribeca Film Festival every year, but the downtown neighborhood of Tribeca is more than a studio back lot.

On April 27, before the last day of the film festival, the Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair drew a diverse crowd to celebrate the neighborhood behind the famous festival. The family-friendly street fair spanned about half-a-mile on Greenwich Street from Chambers to Hubert Street. Food vendors and performance artists entertained families and children of all ages.

Themed stages, like the “Food Feast Stage,” were setup along the path and hosted activities from cooking lessons to community group performances. In between activities, guests could visit tents and booths from local merchants to shop and participate in face-painting, balloon-making and impromptu sword fights.

Many booths and activities also showcased the behind-the-scenes process of New York City filmmaking for the Tribeca Film Festival. For many visitors and festival attendants, the daylong street fair was a welcomed slice of Tribeca culture amidst a week of non-stop film screenings.
