New School campus locations have closed to slow the spread of COVID-19, but Student Leadership and Involvement under the Student Organizations office has announced various virtual events to promote community building, some involving cash prizes.

The programming is scheduled to start the week of March 23. The activities that have a cash prize include a daily trivia competition, an Instagram caption contest, and a weekly word search challenge. There are also various fitness and yoga classes on the calendar that students can join via Zoom video chat or follow along by tuning into the @newschoolstudentlife Instagram live during the allotted time. All event times are in Eastern time.

Activities with Cash Prizes

  • Starting this Tuesday, March 24, Student Leadership and Involvement will be hosting an Instagram Caption Contest through their page @newschoolstudentlife. The account will post an image from its archive and participating students will compete to write the best caption in the comments. Whichever caption submission gets the most likes will win a $10 Amazon gift card.
  • There will be a New School Trivia LIVE event on Zoom on Wednesday, March 25th, from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. “There are $100 in prizes up for grabs for the students that can score the highest at trivia related to New School, history, alumni, and other fun facts!,” according to an email from SLI. Students can register through NarwalNation on this link
  • Tune in to the SLI Instagram page @newschoolstudentlife Wednesday, March 25th to join Words on Wednesday. This is a word search competition where the fastest competitor will win a $20 Amazon gift card and the second place competitor will be selected at random from all the submissions. “You must submit your completed word search by 2 p.m. online or by emailing your completed Word Search to studentorgs@newschool.edu,” Eastern time, according to an email from SLI.
  • The final cash prize competition scheduled this week is Thursday, March 26th, in the form of a TikTok Thursday Contest. The SLI Instagram page @newschoolstudentlife will announce a TikTok challenge where participants will have a week to submit their video. The videos will then be shared through the Instagram page and voted on by other students, prizing the winner with a $20 gift card prize.
