5 New School Resources To Survive Finals Week

Published

Finals week is officially upon us, which means a lot of stress, nerves and anxiety for students across campus. With staying up all night to finish that 10-page paper or make that jacket you left for the last minute, it is especially important that everyone takes care of themselves and are at their fullest health. Here are some tips and resources provided by The New School to help keep your stress levels low so you can make it through to the bitter end.

Enjoy Trail Mix & Massage Stations

Not looking forward to the full week of sleepless nights that inevitably comes during finals? Worried about losing steam to power through? Well, the Office of Student Development and Activities has got you covered with massage chairs and trail mix to reduce any tenseness, as well as keep you fueled throughout the day. As a part of their Seek Relief Week, the OSDA will be stopping at each New School building lobby on campus for 2 hours every day during finals week to bring some peace of mind to students. Check here for more information on times and locations.

Detox With An Acupuncture Session

It is very important that students are able to ease some of the tensions built up over the semester and during finals. On Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., head over to Student Health Services for a detoxifying acupuncture session. Receive a treatment from a licensed acupuncturist from between 30 to 60 minutes in a comfy group setting. “Choose between a five-point ear acupuncture protocol that can release stress and promote body detoxification and a more individualized acupuncture treatment based on your needs.” Click here for more information.

Grab A Late Night Snack

Everyone knows that the perfect snacks are an integral part of a proper study sesh! On Dec. 14 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Office of Student Development and Activities invites you to Arnhold Hall for a snack break. For admission into this event, bring a canned good to donate to The New School’s food pantry, and then enjoy yummy breakfast food for a late night snack. Check here for more information.

The New School Counseling Services

It is very important to The New School that all of our students have safe environments to discuss issues or conflicts they may be having, both personally or academically. If you feel that you are facing any particular struggles, especially during the stressful time of finals, make an appointment to stop by the office for a counseling session at student health services.
