If you’ve been dying to send New School-centric keyboard icons to your friends, now’s your chance.

The New School released NEWmojis, its academically-themed emoji keyboard, on April 18th. From recognizable places like Union Square and the Brooklyn Bridge to the mannequins and sushi found in the University Center, you’ll find over 80 emojis in the new app.

Move over Kimojis.

The new keyboard is an attempt by the school to create a digital outreach that that perfectly captures the true spirit of TNS and New York.

“Using qualitative and quantitative research to understand our students, including what they do in their non-academic life, has helped us connect with our prospective students in the places they naturally interact and on the topics that matter most to them,” said Anne Adriance, Chief Marketing Officer for The New School in a press release.

Snaps Media Inc, a social and mobile media company, developed the emoji keyboard. Each emoji was illustrated by Parsons School of Design graduate, Vincy Cheung.

The NEWmojis fall directly in line with the New School’s other digital attempts to connect and appeal interest in current and young prospective students. The school also has platforms on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook which help bring the recognizable places, people, and things both inside and outside of the classroom to life.

“We’re thrilled to partner with The New School to create a new layer of social engagement for its community,” said Christian Brucculeri, CEO of Snaps. “Today, consumers everywhere are leveraging visual content to personalize the billions of messages that they send each other every day, it’s a perfect channel for The New School to engage in that conversation.”

When the app is opened, it walks users through the new keyboard installation process to help prevent any confusion.

“The emojis are cute and fun,” said Orlando Mendiola, a Lang freshman studying Journalism + Design. “It is important that the app is free because it makes it accessible to many students and a great way to feel more connected to the school since the emojis keep with the overall New School aesthetic.”

The app is available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

And yes, your friends will hate you if you spam them with Narwhal emojis.
